Farmers for Free Trade releases data at event at Kreider Farms in Manheim, PA as part of 11 state #MotorcadeForTrade USMCA tour

MANHEIM, PA – Farmers for Free Trade, the bipartisan, nationwide coalition supported by American farm commodity groups, today released new data on the importance of agricultural trade at an event in Pennsylvania as part of it’s national #MotorcadeForTrade RV Tour. The event, which was held at Kreider Farms in Manheim, focused on the importance of trade and the United States-Mexico-Canada Agreement (USMCA) to Pennsylvania agriculture. The USMCA will be considered this year to update the North American Free Trade Agreeement (NAFTA).

Participants at the event include members of the Pennsylvania agriculture community in addition to Congressman Lloyd Smucker (PA-11) and former U.S. Senator Blanche Lincoln. Other participants included Jim Bair, President & CEO, U.S. Apple Association; Ron Kreider, Owner, Kreider Farms; Brett Davis, Vice President, New Holland Agriculture; Christian Herr, Executive Vice President, PennAg Industries Association; and Angela Marshall Hofmann, Executive Co-Director of Farmers for Free Trade.

“Right now, like any other business, Pennsylvania farmers, their families and the rural communities they live in are looking for an agreement that allows them predictable, open access to the state’s most important trading partners across North America,” said Farmers for Free Trade Spokesperson and former U.S. Senator Blanche Lincoln. “USMCA is the economic opportunity they need and deserve. As we heard today, USMCA allows Pennsylvania exports to flow across borders without being taxed by tariffs or slowed by red tape. It is critical for Pennsylvania’s Congressional delegation to listen to their farmers on this issue and to support the agreement.” The following is new data that Farmers for Free Trade is releasing that highlights state agricultural trade with Canada and Mexico that is on the line. The data was compiled by The Trade Partnership, an international trade and economic analysis firm.

The #MotorcadeForTrade RV Tour: Farmers for Free Trade is undertaking an 11 state, 3,500 mile RV tour across the country in support of the U.S.-Mexico-Canada Agreement (USMCA). The initial two-week leg of the tour, which will take place over the two-week April Congressional recess, will include stops across the Midwest at family farms, coffee shops, ag equipment dealers, small businesses, and more.
